日本の広葉樹の中でも極めて硬質な「欅」を使用し、さらにその一部を炭化させています。そこに墨や胡粉を擦り込んでいくプロセスは、素材の持つ生命力を一度リセットし、新たな美術作品として昇華させる「浄化」の儀式でもあります。「Grid Animism」の理論を具現化する一木造りの前身的彫刻作品。
Contemporary wood sculpture carved from a single block of Japanese Zelkova. The surface is partially carbonized and finished with traditional Sumi ink and Gofun (crushed seashell pigment). A physical manifestation of the “Grid Animism” theory, sublimating the material’s life force into a new architectural form.
