あるお寺のご住職より制作のご依頼をいただきました。 素材は、東本願寺境内のヒマラヤスギの倒木と、ご住職のお寺の中庭で立ち枯れをした翌檜（あすなろ）。
こちらの作品は中庭に立っていた翌檜（あすなろ）。幼少期から見守ってくれた樹や思い入れのある樹。それらを彫刻へと姿を変え、またここから永い時間を共に過ごしていただく。そのような「物語を紡ぐお手伝い」ができる彫刻家という仕事に喜びを感じた次第です。
I received a commission from the head priest of a Buddhist temple. The materials provided were a fallen Himalayan cedar from the grounds of Higashi Hongan-ji Temple and a withered Asunaro (Thujopsis) tree from the courtyard of the priest’s own temple. This particular sculpture was carved from the Asunaro tree that once stood in that courtyard. It was a deeply cherished tree that had watched over the priest since his childhood. By transforming such a memorable tree into a sculpture, it is given a new life to share many more years alongside him. It brings me immense joy as a sculptor to be able to “help weave these stories” through my work.
