An early large-scale installation from 1999, standing 3.5 meters tall. This work is deeply rooted in childhood memories of playing around Lake Biwa and local rice fields. The exclusive use of natural materials, particularly the rough straw rope, is directly inspired by the rice ears cultivated by my father. The piece visualizes the fractal structure of nature, embodying the concept that “the part forms the whole, and the whole forms the part.” By accumulating simple wooden frameworks entirely bound in rough rope, a massive single entity is created. Observing the inseparable, dualistic relationships that sustain the natural world, this early exploration serves as the vital foundation for my current philosophy of “Grid Animism.”
